WEEK 9: Conversation with Artist – Bethany King

The photograph and drawings by Bethany King gave me a dark and mysterious feeling. Her drawing of a guy who sits on a spinning chair with his hand out reminds me of a Vietnamese fantasy book. The way he offered his hand and the look of his eyes is mysterious. I love drawings like this!

I agreed with Bethany King that art could be “art” if the artist who created it accepts it as “art”. People are different from one another, so there is no real way to call something “art” and the other “not art”. A simple picture as shown below can easily be overlooked and never make into the gallery if the artist didn’t see the “art” in it. “Art” or not is for the artist to judge.
